Does your child's prescription seem to get worse year after year?

Childhood myopia (nearsightedness) is on the rise and it's more than just needing stronger glasses. Many researchers believe that increased near work (reading, computer, and handheld digital device use) and well as decreased outdoor time are partially to blame. The most concerning issue for optometrists is the earlier onset of myopia and a faster rate of progression. As myopia progresses, it can lead to potential vision-threatening eye diseases such as retinal detachments, myopic macular degeneration, glaucoma, and cataracts.  The doctors at Ridgeview Eye Care believe that with early intervention, we can provide options to manage or slow the progression of your child's myopia and therefore reduce their long-term eye health risks associated with myopia.  All patients are screened for myopia and it's progression during their annual comprehensive eye exam.
